Today I'm joined by Bro. Kyle and we're talking about goals.
Big goals are not accomplished overnight. If your goals can be completed in one week then your goals are not big enough.
Sometimes we can look at everything that needs to be done and it can seem overwhelming. Our task list can seem daunting, and we don’t even know where to get started. We all know the key is just that-get started. But one thing that can help is to focus on those areas where you can improve just a little bit and then be consistent and improve a little more next week.
As long as you have a direction and a vision, just take the goals in bite sized pieces and start working on them. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Some of the things we try to cover:
- Don't be distracted by the "BIG"
- Outline the big goals for your Sunday school
- Work backwards
- Each small bite creates momentum
Bye.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to another episode, the place where we talk about kids ministry and take a peek behind the scenes. We try to share a little bit of what works for us and some of our failures so you can avoid them. We release a new episode every Friday, and this is your Backstage Pass to see the magic or disaster that happens behind the scenes of our kids ministry. I'm your host, Gabe Baker, and today I'm joined by Brother Kyle. How's it going? Hey, hey. Good to be here.
SPEAKER_01You're in the little studio here. Yeah, it's a lot different with the cameras up now, and I'm like, man, I can't wait. I'm wearing my pajamas here today. Yeah. And no table. You
SPEAKER_00can't lean on the table. And so, yeah. All right. Well, what are we talking about today?
SPEAKER_01Today, our topic is bite size.
SPEAKER_00Bite size. I had another name and I don't know, I don't want to give it away, but I had another name and I decided to go with this one. So big goals are not accomplished overnight. And so, in fact, I would say like if all of your goals can be accomplished in like one week, then your goals probably are not big enough, right? Yeah. So and then sometimes we look at everything. I know I do this all the time. I'll look at everything. I'll get like New Year's syndrome. I'll look at everything that has to be done. I'm like, yeah, I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. And then, you know, by day two, you get overwhelmed. You're just like, oh, forget it. And then you're not getting any of them done. Yeah, for sure. So it seems so daunting. We don't know where to get started. Right. And then, of course, we know the key is just get started. Right. So, but one of those things is, and I'm trying to do this without looking at the notes because of the video here, but one of those things is that I, this concept that I'm trying to gravitate, and man, this podcast is for me as much as it is for anybody. It's for me too, brother. I do so much. I don't want to jump too far ahead, but I do so much like in the church and everything that I'm like, when I start like saying I want to do better, I'm like, oh, I want to do better in kids ministry. Oh, I need to do better in youth. Oh, I need to do better, you know, all these different areas and so one thing though that I'm trying to gravitate toward is kind of the concept of 1% better almost or something but like okay let's shore up just this area if we can make this one better then okay now we can move on to another one and so that's where I see this big daunting thing and there's the old saying how do you eat an elephant one bite at a time so there's the bite size right
SPEAKER_01there right yeah it's something too to be said about we've talked about this before where when you accomplish things along the way it kind of encourages you to keep going and push harder and harder whereas if you just create this giant goal in front of you so for example this year I made it a goal for myself you could call it a news resolution if you want it's probably the only one I've stuck to so far but hey that's pretty good five months in I wanted to be more diligent in reading books outside of the Bible and so I didn't come up with this goal like I want to read 50 books this year or something crazy. I heard a podcast by Brother Bernard who said he reads like 70 or some books a year or some crazy number. I'm like, that's a lot. So my goal was to read just one book a month. And so I just started with that first month. Just the first book, just get it going. And I remember that first month, I think I went past by like a few days, but I'm reading two books at a time. One that's more like deep thought and philosophical and one that's a little bit easier to read. And so that first month, I'm like, oh, I didn't get it. But I'm like, well, I'm just going to keep going. And by the time I've read five books so far this year and it's just
SPEAKER_00a little bit at a time yeah a little bit at a time so were you reading one by like brother Wilson and another one Louis L'Amour or
SPEAKER_01not quite but but something along the lines like for example right now I'm reading all the complete works of Josephus which is about a thousand pages yeah and then also I'm reading seven habits of highly effective people which is a little bit easier read I mean it has some stuff in there that's a little bit deeper but for the most part it's a pretty yeah easy read I read a book about prayer recently. I was reading Brother Booker's books, What a Difference a Lion Can Make, which those are like fun to read kind of, listening to his story or reading his story and stuff like that, his background. And then just other things like that, like Brother Wilson's book is on my list for this year. And then the Origins of the Trinity, which seems like it's actually a book for Trinitarians, but it's actually a book proving Trinitarians wrong. Oh, okay. But it's real heavy, and it's like reading Brother Wilson's. Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_00And so he was telling me some different things, and I was saying, you know, I typically read like a couple books at a time. And he's like, that is the best way to learn, he said, is to read two or three or four or whatever, multiple books at a time. And what his theory was, and I don't know if there's science to back this up or whatever, but his theory was, when you read you read a short snippet of this certain type of material you retain that a little better than when you in instead of like a long chunk of it and so you might be doing big chunks but you do small snippet here and then a small snippet of your other book and so they stay with you
SPEAKER_01and that's where i think like my method for myself at least is working so well because if you read the same stuff i mean especially if it's a big book like the complete works of Josephus, you're basically reading similar things for like, I don't know how long it's going to take me, but for a long time. And it's like, after a while you get kind of, I don't want to say bored, but it just becomes almost like monotonous. I can't say anything every single day. I think this ties into our topic today really well on this bite size thing is that you have this big project and there's nothing wrong with, okay, I'm going to get this part of it done over here. And then tomorrow I might go over there and get this part of it done. Obviously we want to complete things before I move along, but you know, if I'm just only going to work on the stage for the next like three months it's like well you can get part of this part of the stage done this today and then oh maybe I'll work over here this day and just kind of break things up otherwise you just get like oh here we go another day of working up on the stage yeah I can kind of get so over it yeah just yeah it gets too too much and you made a comment too in your opening statement about the fact is if your goal can be accomplished in a week your goals are pretty small right and this can tie into kids ministry so well and Sunday school we have the people who they like oh I'm just going to start by doing I'm going to read the kids a story and then I'm going to have them color and like that's the only goal they have well that's something we can accomplish in one day that's something we can do right now or as opposed to if you come up with something you don't have to be as big and extravagant as maybe we get or as brother Booker gets at his Sunday school but maybe it's like I'm going to include some small skits and we're going to have actors yeah it's going to take some time to get there but the thing is about God's kingdom is everything about his kingdom is designed to grow and get bigger if you're limiting what God can do in your church that's way outside of his will no matter what you might think
SPEAKER_00exactly
SPEAKER_01and the other thing too is we have to be very careful not to limit what God can do oh well God you know we're in a really small town and so because we're in a small town we can't have a big church or we couldn't have a big kids ministry in our church well I'll just say I don't know the population I was going to look it up before I got here but Placer Rock at Brother McKillop's church I want to say the population is like 5,000 or 6,000, really small, but he runs a church of like 500 or 600 people, which is crazy. They've got the whole town there. He said, we can't do door knocking because everybody's everybody's neighbor and everybody knows
SPEAKER_00everybody. There's no meeting new people. You can walk up the sidewalk and they're like, oh yeah, I know who you are. Yeah,
SPEAKER_01exactly. But even in a town that small, and they don't have towns close by, they have a massive church, so you can never limit what God might do in your church. And if you want to follow His will, that means you're going to do things that's going to help things Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I remember a long time ago, a pastor talking in one of our MIT sessions, and he talked about that exact thing, what you just said is God's church is designed to grow. And so not that we don't have to do anything, but it is designed, it's meant to grow. So our job, he was saying in this lesson, is to remove the inhibitors to growth, remove those things that stop us from growing. Yeah, for sure. All right. All right. So first note here is I got don't be distracted by the, quote, big. Don't be distracted by the big. And so that's where I think we can get hung up or we can get overwhelmed or distracted by these big, huge goals. It's like this lofty thing.
SPEAKER_01I thought of the story of Noah and the ark. So if you can imagine, Noah doesn't know how to build a boat, first of all, has no experience whatsoever. and God comes to him and says, hey, I want you to build a boat. And then he's like, okay, I might be able to do that. And then he's like, oh, and by the way, this is how big it is. And then he tells him all the dimensions and I'm sure he's thinking to himself, that is massive. Like how, I don't even know how to build a boat. Like how am I supposed to do this? How am I supposed to accomplish this goal? But depending on your philosophy and your thoughts about it and how you kind of do timelines of the Bible, some say 75 years, some say as much as 150 years it took him to actually build the entire arc and so he just took one day at a time one little bit you know this board today that board tomorrow um if he just focused on the size of that boat he never would have got it done yeah he would have been way too overwhelmed
SPEAKER_00well you know what i was i i remember this has been a few years ago now but a long time ago i had uh in my little notebook i keep uh let's see where's that i keep this notebook here so it's a big huge notebook um so in my In my notebook, I had written down there was a few things that I wanted to do in Sunday school. And this was – there was other things too, but I just remember this specifically. There was a few things that I had wanted to do for set design. And so I remember I had written down – this was a long time ago, and I just was at that conference, and I'm known as the guy that builds slides. But I didn't always, and so on that list was build a slide. Yeah. And so – And then I had build a slide that goes through a wall. And so, and then I had, there was another thing on there. I'm trying to remember what it was. It might've been a secret door or something, but it was super cool because it was like, I don't know, a few years later, a couple of years later, I was going through my list. I was like, oh, did that? Oh, did that? And we did, we built a slide, a tunnel slide that went through a wall. You went through a wall and you landed in another room. And
SPEAKER_01you also built a slide that sent kids through a wall. Well, that was my first one. Man, that slide was awesome. I'm not going to lie. That thing was sweet. A little bit risky. It was a little intense. It was intense. I'd have the calculations off a slight bit.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know what was funny about that slide is I had built it. So that was back. I used to build them with wood and masonite. And the first person other than myself to test it was your father-in-law.
SPEAKER_01Oh, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's like, hey, I'll go up this thing. And he went down it and slam. I mean, man, that thing was so fast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That was pretty crazy. Yeah, that slide was pretty awesome. But, I mean, it's pretty cool when you have those things where, and this is why it's so encouraging to write this stuff down. Don't just think about it in your head. these big goals that you have in mind, actually put this stuff down on paper or notes in your phone and then check back up on these things. Maybe not years later, but every couple of months and say, hey, where am I at? Yeah, check in on it. Don't get paranoid and start looking at them every single day and start getting discouraged, but just have them be in your back pocket and just every once in a while check them out and say, hey, how am I doing? Where am I at on these goals? And start checking stuff off and then that's where it encourages you and like, oh, I actually am getting some things done. I'm actually accomplished Yeah,
SPEAKER_00and I think that it's also good to have, like, I'm a scheduled guy, but to have that scheduled. Like, okay, once a quarter, once a month, whatever it is, I'm going to be looking at these and reminding myself, oh, yeah, I'm supposed to be building
SPEAKER_01that slide. realistic goals and actually check back in on yourself say I'm going to do these goals within the next week or two these goals of me maybe a couple months down the road these months maybe six or eight months down the road and actually set these timelines for yourself and keep yourself accountable because I mean if you don't you're just going to get off track and who
SPEAKER_00knows well and that's you know to go to our next point is outline the big goals for your Sunday school there's a couple things that I try to do I do this in in my personal life as well, but with Sunday school is I try to think, okay, what's an area that needs either shored up or that we want to make just way cooler, right? And so I'll use the example, let's just say it's costumes. We want to make costumes awesome. And so costumes is not what makes our Sunday school. It's not what makes it awesome. It's not what prays kids through to the Holy Ghost. It's not any of these things, but it's one of those, I talk all the time about unquantifiable things. It is one of those items. And so if we could take and just focus on, okay, it doesn't mean you let everything else go. You're maintaining and hopefully even moving forward on everything else a little bit. But you're like, okay, we're going to really focus on costumes and we're going to really go over the top with those. And maybe that's for a quarter or something. And you're like, okay, this is going to be we're going to go awesome on costumes and then the next quarter is going to be the theme or whatever
SPEAKER_01right and I think that's important like what you just said is you are going to specifically focus on one thing maybe for that moment and try to build that up but you don't want to ignore everything else and allow those things to slack and to lose ground in those other areas you got to remember those other things that you've already built up on or that you've been working on beforehand while you're focusing on this one thing that you're trying to improve
SPEAKER_00yeah you still have yeah it's kind of like Like if you're saving up to go on vacation, you still are paying your bills. You're still maintaining. You're still doing everything else that you need to do. But you're saving up money. I don't know if that's the best analogy. But that's kind of – you're still – in Sunday school, we're still doing all the things that we need to do and everything. But it's like – and I've done this with our big events before. I've even said this year, let's kind of focus on this area and improve this area.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why this talk, it's so funny. I think I've said this every time we've recorded a podcast, but this one fits me so well right now. So I have this goal in mind later on this year in September, I'm going to get into the LEAP program with Wilson University.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I really felt God call me into the ministry years ago, and I've really felt a push this year and talked to pastor about it. And the class, I think the LEAP program is like $2,000. But for people like, oh, that's not that bad. Well, I have five kids. Well, six, but five that are younger, and I'm the sole provider for my family, so that's a lot these days, food and all that stuff. And so it's paying bills and stuff like that. I'm like, how can I accomplish this goal? And I figured out how many days it was between the day I started saving and the end goal, and however many days I don't remember it was, and I divided that by the total number I needed to save and figured out that I needed to save. I think it was $13 every single day to save up the money I needed to actually pay for the class. Oh, wow. So that whole idea where how to eat an elephant is you eat it one bite at a time. I actually texted that to Pastor Burgess about this idea of trying to save up to be able to pay for this class. And I'm still, like you said, I'm still focusing on paying all my other bills. Yeah, you're still doing everything you got to do. But I'm focusing on this specific goal right now until I see it through and then
SPEAKER_00I can
SPEAKER_01move on to the
SPEAKER_00next one. Well, and that ties into kind of you were asking me a little bit. We were talking before the show about the bullet point I have on here is work backwards. And so I was talking – for anybody that's familiar with that, I was talking about pole planning. And it's kind of a method of planning or project management. But that's kind of the same idea is you're looking at the end goal and then you're working backwards from there. What do I got to do to get there? And so I think in our Sunday school, one of the things that – and we need to do this more often. And I want to actually get a group together and just kind of include some other people in this process. Yeah. because then it gets people on board and stuff. But if we could look at our Sunday school and say, okay, what does perfect look like? And that's hard to define, you know, but if we can try and we can look at the different areas and then we can break those areas down even further. So ultimately, you know, what perfect looks like is that we are evangelizing and discipling kids, you know. We've got kids praying through the Holy Ghost. We have kids coming in and and they're being discipled, and our church kids are being discipled. But then we can back up and say, okay, we want our sets to be awesome. What would be the perfect set? What would it look like? We want our theme stories to be incredible. We want our backstage to be awesome. And so if you look at all of those things and then work backward from there, and so the idea is, The idea is kind of like, okay, well, we want to have kids pray through to the Holy Ghost. Well, let's work backwards from there. So what do we need to do? And this is why we've talked about it before in our script. Everything in our script points to the altar. And that's why also that we feel like every Sunday school should have an altar call.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we talked about that in the last podcast. We did. If you're not having an altar call in your Sunday school, why? I mean, that's critical to everybody's salvation, not just adults. Kids need to be saved, too. in your gold card or your little sheet of things that you want to have brought into your Sunday school, you need to add that in. No matter what else is there right now, you should definitely add that one into your list.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and one thing, I think I mentioned this when we did talk about it, is I know that there's some Sunday school classes that altar call sounds really big and daunting. You might be a teacher with four kids or something in your class, And so one thing we called it was, you know, response to lesson prayer. And so same thing, but it might not feel like, like ours feels like an altar call, like a big church, basically.
SPEAKER_01We have music playing and people are praying with the
SPEAKER_00kids. Yeah. And we have, oftentimes what happens is we'll have somebody does the last lesson or the kind of the main lesson, I guess. And it's after maybe a Bible story or even a theme skit or whatever, however we do it. And then what we typically will do is we will typically turn it over to the altar lead. And then the altar lead usually has about two minutes on the timer because the lesson's already been taught. And they're just basically, they're getting the kids, you know, stand up and we're going to come forward to the altar and kind of prepping them on that. And then we come up and we pray. But yeah, so yeah, I don't want to get sidetracked, but yeah. All right. So each small bite creates momentum. Right. And so this is something that's huge is when you start to accomplish these small goals, I mean, no matter, even if they're little tiny goals, like, you know, Dave Ramsey talks about the debt snowball, right? Yeah. It's the same idea. You start to accomplish these small goals. Yeah. Like if it's costumes you're focused on, it's like, wow, our costumes are awesome. And then it's like, hey guys, okay, we're going to work on our theme, you know, or whatever it is that it's like yeah let's do it because you see the results right and it's inspiring
SPEAKER_01the other thing too i think is that your goals should be things that are also going to help in other areas yes so like when you talk about the costumes i think as an actor in sunday school that actually helps us out get into character and know like what am i supposed to feel right now like i mean obviously with bible stories we kind of have an awareness of what the bible story means and what what they might have been feeling at the time but even when doing our theme skits it's like when you put that costume is on it's like oh I've taken on this person's personality almost like it's different than me
SPEAKER_00our big phone booth back here we talked
SPEAKER_01about Superman changing into yeah for sure and it's like it's amazing how that happens I remember the very first thing you ever had me do for children's church I want to say it was for August services it might have been like seven or eight years ago you had me do drill
SPEAKER_00sergeant oh the drill sergeant yeah because I was in
SPEAKER_01the military and so and I hadn't been in the military for several years but I'll tell you what brother as soon as I put that uniform on I was tuned
SPEAKER_00I remember I remember that when you had you had that hat you like you told me about it you were like I want this specific hat yeah and it was drill sergeant hat and when you came in I think I might have a video of it but you came in you kind of had your head down and that we could see that hat and you were in uniform yeah and oh man it was it looked it looked real it was like oh yeah I
SPEAKER_01felt it I'm sure I scared the daylights out of some kids because what I did if I remember right is I like all of a sudden just burst down it's like everybody start doing some push-ups and just go crazy for 20 or 30 minutes and I'm you know just feeling it because I had that costume on so again you know these goals that you set should be things that are going to help build up these other areas and ultimately achieve your your final goal whatever that is for your Sunday
SPEAKER_00school yeah it's definitely yeah it's not in a vacuum and and costumes is probably one of the best examples because it is probably one of the most remote things but yet even that still affects I mean it reinforces the theme that we're doing it helps the characters like you said the actors to be be that person you know
SPEAKER_01I think it's one of the easier things to do because I mean the availability online you could just do a simple Google search Roman soldier costume and just come up with thousands of listings on there a cowboy outfit I mean yeah it's so easy to find this stuff now it's just at the click of a button and so it's one of those goals that you can set that is super easy to accomplish. Now, the financial side of it may be a little bit more difficult, but again, even with that, you can find less expensive alternatives. You don't have to go all out like my brother-in-law did with Brother Brent with his helmet thing that he bought. Oh my goodness, that was awesome. That thing was crazy awesome. And I think Brennan did the whole sword swallowing thing. I know that wasn't cheap to get all that stuff for that, but if your budget is small, that's okay. But there's
SPEAKER_00some people, some of our people, like our people do go all out and they buy their own costumes, which is awesome. We do buy costumes as a Sunday school, but really for the main characters, everybody buys their own for the most part. But the thing is, some people are creative. They go to Goodwill, and they make some pretty awesome costumes.
SPEAKER_01Every town's got a thrift store.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I remember, I have a picture of this. Brother Keech, he was in, oh, I don't remember what theme it was. It might have been a spy theme I can't remember for sure. Oh yeah. I think it was our very first spy theme years ago when we used to set up every week and it was code breaker was his, his, you know, moniker or whatever, but he found this suit at Goodwill and it was like a houndstooth checks, but it was a whole suit, you know, like you would think a sports coat or something, but it was a whole suit. And then he found a scarf and a hat that like matched and everything. And it was super cool. It was kind of a baggy suit, like, you know, Yeah.
SPEAKER_01outlandish are going to be impossible to accomplish especially stuff if you're by yourself like you're the only Sunday school teacher and you're never accomplishing anything you're going to get discouraged and it's like I was just never ending to give up right so make sure when you're setting these goals for yourself that these are things that are attainable that you can achieve because like we're saying it's going to help you build that momentum and lead you ultimately into that that big goal that you want to have whether it be grow your Sunday school 10 times what it is or have a hundred kids or whatever that is I mean Noah built the ark one nail at One meal
SPEAKER_00at a time. And if you do this idea, like we're talking about, you know, do the costumes, do the Bible stories, do the puppets, whatever. If you focus on these areas, then it inspires you when you can check it off the list, you know, kind of
SPEAKER_01like
SPEAKER_00we did that.
SPEAKER_01When you see the kids having a good time, then it's like, oh, all this work was worth it. Yeah. When you're up there and you're acting and the kids are just laughing or getting scared. Yeah, I remember, I don't know, it's been a couple themes ago. One is, you
SPEAKER_00know, One of the people that are on the outreach on the bus ministry, we were in a transition, and they came in and said, the kids are asking if you're going to do another slide. And so it was just kind of like a reminder, like, okay, yeah, they do really like this a lot. We don't even do it every week, but it's there and we use it for our interactive part.
SPEAKER_01Just remember what the ultimate goal is, not just specifically for your Sunday school, but for the kids. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. And that's how –
SPEAKER_00That's how your Sunday school becomes like one of these dynamic Sunday schools and becomes better is you have this, you have the umbrella of the church and your pastor's vision. And then, and that's the kind of the overarching big, huge goal. Right. And then, and then you break it down from there and, and we're, we're just one of the ministries in the church. And, and then you break it down even further into this ministry. Like, what can we do in here and break these down? So just to recap here, so don't be distracted by the big goal. We want it to be big, but don't be distracted by how big it is and how huge it is. And I think this also goes for, you can look at other Sunday schools, right, or other ministries or even other denominations that have it, quote, unquote, going on. And you can say, man, we want something like that. you know not necessarily that and I don't think that's bad you can get inspiration but don't be discouraged by it like oh we could never do that you know it's kind of like when you are you're like maybe you play an instrument or you're kind of learning and then you know you're trying to learn the guitar or something then you go and see somebody that's just awesome right and you're just like I don't even want to play yeah you know instead let it be the other way around like oh I want to be like that
SPEAKER_01right or you're like I just want to learn one instrument and you see people like your son Adrian who plays like five and you're like great I don't think I could even do one
SPEAKER_00thanks yeah you know I talked about him at the children's ministry seminar and he does have talent he does got natural talent but what a lot of people don't see and I get to see because he lives in my house he spends hours in fact right now he's at home right now practicing the bass before music practice tonight and he's been at it Yeah,
SPEAKER_01I've talked to him and asked him, and he's like, yeah, yesterday I spent three hours on the piano, and then I worked a little bit on the drums, and I spent an hour and 45 minutes on bass, or something like that. And I'm like, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then he works out, too. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Adrian's pretty cool. All right, so then outline the big goals for your Sunday school. And this is one of the things I forgot to mention earlier on this, and we are running out of time, but outline the big goals for your Sunday school. And I specifically put big because we can have goals, and not all of our goals are big, but we need to have some big ones. And so outline the big goals for your Sunday school, the ones that you can start working on, and in a long term, they're going to have a huge impact.
SPEAKER_01Right. Things, for example, like what am I going to do when my church doubles in size?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01How am I going to get to that big goal of our Sunday school being twice the size that it is now? Right. And how do I work my way to that place?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's funny you mentioned that because I'm already looking at the building here because we're nearing our max with how we are set up right now. And so we got a ways to go before we max out the building, but with the way we're set up. During August services, brother, we're maxed out. Yeah. And then work backwards. And so basically what that means is just looking at the end goal and then saying, okay, what are the steps? And the reason for that, like in the pole plan, environment is that if you look at like You know, we want to clean the kitchen, so the kitchen needs to be clean. And so instead of doing traditional push planning, you're like, okay, so we need to, you know, mop the floor. Well, before we mop the floor, we probably should clean the counters because what if something spills onto the floor? And then before we clean the counters, you know, so it just kind of helps you what needs to be done right before this step. And so that's the idea of working
SPEAKER_01backwards. And I think it helps you focus. Focus on these details that you might miss if you did the push plan instead.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. And then each small bite creates momentum. If you can do just these little things, man, it inspires you. It gets you on track and inspires your team too. You know, you start accomplishing some of these little things. And I just mentioned on the podcast the other day that in the last, I think, five weeks, I've had three people ask me to be in Sunday school or maybe it was vice versa. Three weeks, five people. I Anyway, a bunch of people are asking to be in Sunday school. And so it's contagious. It's like, oh, something's going on there.
SPEAKER_01And I recall things like a few years ago in our August services, we had a child pray through the Holy Ghost up in Children's Church. Two years ago. Yeah, yeah. And so as a person that's involved in Sunday school, and I know that all the things that it takes to put this on, seeing stuff like that as a cast member or a person that's helping out just like is so encouraging. Yeah. So like you were just saying. These goals that get accomplished, like praying kids through at the altar, encourages the staff to continue to go on and push harder. I know a lot of us were encouraged.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's one of those things like there's so many things, again, unquantifiable that you can't point at, but that's something you can point at and be like, see that? See that? That's what it's all about. All right, well, we are out of time because you've got to go do some practice. I'm late for practice. Oh, no. All right, well, that's a wrap.
